Leeuwarden, 20 July 2024 – The project group for the International Primary School in Leeuwarden is calling on employers in the region to support this crucial initiative. Backed by the Municipality of Leeuwarden, Province of Fryslân, NHL Stenden, and FB Oranjewoud, the school aims to enhance the region’s attractiveness to international talent.
The Need for an International School
Currently, Fryslân lacks an international primary school, with the nearest one located in Groningen. Establishing this school in Leeuwarden will significantly strengthen the region’s business climate, aiding in the attraction and retention of international talent and enhancing Fryslân global image.
How Employers Can Contribute
Employers in Fryslân are invited to join the alliance supporting the international school through various means:
- Become a Supporter: Sign the support declaration at the event on 19 September from 15:00 to 17:00 at IKC Middelsee. This will showcase your commitment to the initiative.
- Support International Employees: Facilitate your new international employees with children to attend the international school and consider covering the school fee (approximately €4,000) for one or more years.
- Symbolic Financial Contribution: Provide a financial contribution of €1,500, €3,000, or €5,000 to support the project’s initial phase over the coming years.

The project group is organizing a support event on 19 September at IKC Middelsee. During this event, the formal application for the international school in Fryslân will be signed. Your presence and support are vital for the success of this initiative.
